In Japan, members of the baby-boom generation began reaching retirement age in the mid-2010s, making labor shortages in industry increasingly apparent. In manufacturing workplaces as well, a shortage of skilled workers has led to declining production efficiency, and there are high expectations for solving this issue through the digitalization of frontline operations. This paper reports on a real-time assembly assistance system that utilizes image recognition technology with a wearable camera.
