In the Kramers-Kronig (KK) relation-based KK receiving system, which reconstructs the electric field in the digital domain, it is necessary to superimpose a high-intensity unmodulated carrier at the spectral edge of the information signal. However, if the DC component generated during square detection becomes excessive, the change in the modulated component becomes relatively small, potentially making the signal more susceptible to quantization noise during AD conversion.
This paper reports the results of an experiment investigating the relationship between the intensity of the unmodulated carrier and signal quality in self-coherent OFDM transmission using KK receiving.
