In recent years, the rapid growth of Internet traffic has caused serious capacity congestion in cellular base stations and Wi-Fi networks. Optical wireless communication (OWC) has attracted considerable attention as a promising solution to this problem. By introducing multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology into OWC systems, high-capacity transmission can be achieved. Furthermore, receiver diversity techniques can improve communication reliability. In this study, we investigate an OWC system that combines MIMO and receiver diversity, and compare several receiver selection criteria to identify the most effective method for improving communication performance.
