High-frequency bands such as the 28 GHz band are susceptible to coverage dead zones where sufficiently high communication quality cannot be provided, due to blockage loss caused by the strong line-of-sight propagation characteristics of radio waves. In this paper, we report an experimental investigation of a use case in which communication is stabilized using a metasurface reflector against self-blockage, where the user’s own body blocks radio waves from the base station.
