The use of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) in feeder links (FLs) for satellite constellations has been studied as a promising approach to increasing capacity. However, because satellite motion causes the MIMO capacity to vary over time, the performance of the FL can temporarily degrade significantly. We have proposed a satellite diversity scheme that mitigates capacity degradation by rerouting traffic through inter-satellite links to the FLs of other satellites when capacity degradation occurs. We have also analyzed satellite deployments in which the diversity effect is difficult to obtain and clarified the conditions required to avoid such deployments. In this study, we clarify and optimize the satellite deployment conditions that can mitigate FL capacity degradation.
