In stadium environments where large-scale events are held, base stations are densely deployed to accommodate heavy traffic, and inter-cell interference degrades communication quality. This paper focuses on distributed massive MIMO (D-MIMO), which exploits neighboring base stations-conventionally interference sources-for coherent joint transmission. Using ray-tracing channel simulations, we evaluated the downlink performance and show that D-MIMO significantly improves both the cell-edge user throughput and the area-sum throughput compared with the conventional cellular scheme.
