[B-5B-04]Delay Evaluation of Packet Duplication in Wi-Fi MLO Environments

In recent years, with the spread of various communication services, the demand for highly reliable and low-latency communication in Wi-Fi has been increasing. As a method to meet this demand, packet duplication, which sends the same packet over multiple links, has been proposed. In packet duplication, even when one link is occupied by an external device, the packet can be delivered through another link, and thus delay reduction is expected. On the other hand, since multiple links are used simultaneously, packet duplication may increase the queueing delay of subsequent packets. In this study, we evaluated the impact of packet duplication on the average delay by simulation, targeting downlink communication in a multi link operation environment where multiple links can be used simultaneously, while varying the link occupancy occurrence rate and input load. The evaluation results confirm that packet duplication should be applied according to the communication conditions to reduce the overall system delay.
