A system called HANMOC has been proposed for Segment Routing (SR) networks, which measures the quality of arbitrary network segments—such as latency, connectivity, and jitter—by injecting measurement packets from a single point in the network. HANMOC is also applicable to overlay networks built on SR networks, and previous studies have proposed a quality measurement method for VPNs employing PE multihoming. However, the increase in the number of measurement packets required for monitoring a single segment leads to higher measurement system load and greater impact on the network.
To address this issue, this paper proposes a new quality measurement method for PE multihoming VPNs using HANMOC that simultaneously reduces measurement load and suppresses network impact.
