Conventional network verification has been conducted by building networks using only physical devices or only virtual machines running on physical servers, but it has been difficult to balance cost and verification performance. Even the hybrid physical-virtual testbed emulators that have emerged in recent years face challenges in accurately reproducing vendor-specific behavior. In this paper, we propose a “physical-virtual hybrid network verification system” that balances cost and verification performance by utilizing vendor virtual appliances and a programmable data plane.
