In the 5G Registration procedure, the UE performs authentication via the AMF.
In general, when the registration is rejected five consecutive times, the UE suppresses further registration attempts for 12 minutes according to the T3502 timer. However, If there is a UE that is misbehaving, registration requests may be repeatedly transmitted at short intervals. Such behavior can excessively trigger authentication procedures and signaling, leading to increased resource consumption across the entire network. Therefore, it is important to properly identify UEs that do not comply with the timer rules and to take early countermeasures. In this paper, we propose a registration control scheme that efficiently suppresses excessive registration requests from misbehaving UEs on the network side.
