Geo-tagged content, such as 3D point-cloud maps for autonomous vehicles and delivery robots, exhibits inherent geographic locality, as both its generation and consumption are confined to local areas. However, IPFS distributes content location records (Provider Records) independently of geographic position, and thus cannot exploit this locality. This paper proposes Geo-IPFS, which embeds a geohash in the upper bits of both node IDs and DHT keys, thereby placing Provider Records locally in the region where the content is generated. Simulation results show that the proposed method reduces content discovery latency compared with existing IPFS implementations.
