In an aging society, early detection of bedsores and reduction of caregiver burden are urgent priorities. This study developed a non-contact, non-invasive bedsores detection system using 5.8GHz microwaves. This system detects bedsores by irradiating radio waves from a thin antenna placed under the mattress and analyzing the difference between the change in reflection characteristics due to ischemia within the skin and data from healthy skin acquired during care. By taking the difference from each individual's health status, it can accommodate individual differences and seasonal variations. Analysis using a high-resolution human body model mimicking the physique of elderly individuals, and actual measurements using a multi-tissue bio-equivalent phantom, confirmed the system's usefulness in detecting bedsores within a specific range.
