The field of network science has evolved substantially, driven in part by the discovery of characteristic properties exhibited by real-world networks. This development has had a significant influence on graph theory, a branch of discrete mathematics, as well as on optimization theory and algorithmic research. Information networks have greatly benefited from advances in these related disciplines. In this presentation, I will provide an overview of diverse approaches to the mathematical analysis, optimization algorithms, and AI technologies for information networks.
