Bandpass filters (BPFs) using stepped impedance resonators (SIRs) have been reported as a structure for achieving wideband characteristics. Additionally, a method to omit the input/output coupling lines by employing a center-via coupling structure has also been proposed. However, because these designs utilize an impedance ratio of K = Z₂/Z₁ > 1, the resonator length increases, resulting in a larger footprint. In this report, we propose a compact X-band BPF based on a center-via-coupled SIR, in which the resonator is shortened by setting K < 1. Furthermore, high selectivity is achieved by bending the Z₂ line to introduce capacitive coupling.
