We are working to extend the operating frequency of flexible waveguides that employ a braided outer conductor as a wired transmission technology for Beyond 5G/6G high‑frequency bands. In this study, we investigated the causes of increased transmission loss above 130 GHz in the F‑band (90–140 GHz), focusing on the interfacial conductivity of the outer conductor and the braiding conditions. Measurements of the interfacial conductivity indicated that material-related effects are small, suggesting that the loss increase is not due to the conductor material. We further showed that differences in braiding conditions affect the outer‑conductor structure and consequently the transmission loss. Based on these findings, prototype samples were fabricated and evaluated, confirming a tendency toward improved loss characteristics in the problematic frequency range.
