In EV PMSM drive systems, adjusting the DC bus voltage via a converter according to operating conditions is gaining attention as a technique to improve controllability. The BB-ASSI is a DC-AC topology capable of both step-up and step-down operations, which enables an improved modulation index by lowering the DC bus voltage in the low-speed range. However, depending on circuit parameters, fluctuations in the DC bus voltage can affect the voltage applied to the PMSM and the subsequent current response; nevertheless, studies on this dynamic behavior remain limited.
In this study, as a first step toward investigating the dynamic behavior of the BB-ASSI with a PMSM load, we propose a simplified model of the BB-ASSI. Furthermore, peak current control is applied to analyze the dynamic behavior of the proposed model under PMSM drive conditions.
