The rise of stretchable electronic materials enabled us to develop stretchable semiconductor devices, which are considered the next generation of flexible devices and are useful as wearable/implantable healthcare devices. The electronic properties of stretchable conductors and semiconductors are comparable to non-stretchable flexible materials. Here, we introduce two types of stretchable semiconductor devices: stretchable high-frequency diodes and stretchable photodiodes. Each device was realized by layering various types of engineered stretchable electronic materials. Although conventional soft materials like gels or rubbers were poorly conductive, highly sophisticated electronic devices are being developed using soft materials.
