In order to improve the existing ruthenium (Ru) release model from fuel in a severe accident, Ru activity (a_Ru) of Ru-palladium (Pd) alloys was measured by a new experimental method using thermogravimetric analysis. The measured a_Ru agrees well with that obtained from the existing binary phase diagram. This result indicates that this thermogravimetric method can be applied for the measurement of a_Ru in the Ru-Pd binary alloy.
