Nucleic acid has been widely used in biological engineering for it follows the Watson-Crick base pairing method which makes it highly predictable and programmable. Various DNA-based nanodevices and logic circuits have been designed in the past few decades. These applications either use enzymes or toehold-mediated strand displacement reaction to regulate the behavior of DNA. In this study, we tried to achieve a DNA hairpin gate regulation by using photo-cross-linkable artificial nucleic acid, 3-Cyanovinylcarbazolenucleoside (CNVK).
