The development of geriatric dentistry in Korea is synonymous with the development of the Korean Academy of Geriatric Dentistry (KAGD). The KAGD, celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024, has announced three key visions. The first, "Establishment of clinical fields in geriatric dentistry," includes the prevention and management of oral frailty, and dental evaluation and management of dysphagia. The second, "Enhancing education and research on geriatric dentistry," focuses on setting educational goals and improving research in geriatric dentistry, as well as introducing a training system for geriatric dentistry specialists. The third, "Social contribution in the super-aged society," includes the establishment of a visit dental care system and policy foundation building through a multidisciplinary approach. In summary, our goals are to advance education and research in geriatric dentistry, integrate oral frailty and dysphagia into real clinical practice, and successfully establish a visit dental care system based on multidisciplinary approach. All of these efforts are aimed at preventing frailty, dependence, and mortality, and improving the quality of life in older adults by improving oral health and function. The Geriatric Dentistry in Korea strives to advance through international collaboration and hopes to make a global contribution.
