The planetarium is the ultimate classroom—an immersive environment where audiences can travel from the farthest reaches of the cosmos to the coral reefs in our oceans, and even explore the wonders of human civilization. With the advent of accessible 360° video technology, educators and presenters can now bring real-world locations directly into the dome, creating powerful “virtual field trips” that engage, inspire, and educate audiences of all ages. In this presentation, Derek Demeter, Director of the Emil Buehler Planetarium at Seminole State College of Florida, will demonstrate how a simple 360° camera can be used to capture and curate personal and enriching experiences. From walking among the historic ruins of Rome, to diving beneath the waves on a SCUBA expedition, to standing beneath the towering rockets at Kennedy Space Center or visiting professional observatories around the world, these experiences allow audiences to explore diverse environments without ever leaving the dome. Attendees will gain practical insights into how to produce their own fulldome content, including an overview of affordable tools, techniques, and workflows for capturing, editing, and presenting immersive footage.

- Speaker: Derek Demeter
- 25 to 40 minutes is preferred but can speak on this in any time interval
- Since these are fulldome videos, I prefer to do this in a planetarium but can also do this on a normal projector screen if unable to do so inside the dome. This could also be a oral presentation as well. I am flexible
