Abstract:
If you've considered creating a full-dome presentation and would like to keep it simple with no 3D rendering, even if for a non-astronomy topic, then this presentation is for you. Basic concepts will be covered regarding how to think about the hemispherical dome space and its relation to the audience. Using planar images effectively, even to create immersive environments, will be covered.
Notes to IPS 2026 hosts only - NOT to include in abstract:
- The objective of this presentation is to help planetarians understand the dome theater space better and how to serve the audience better.
- The speaker will be Adam Thanz.
- It is very important that I can present under a dome as I have full-dome visuals to display. I understand that there may be some smaller domes available for use.
- This is NOT a vendor presentation at all. It is a skill-learning session.
- I will not be playing a full-dome video, but need to step through a series of full-dome still images.
- I would like to have 15 minutes if possible, but can work with 10 minutes if time is restricted.
