[SP-JP2-02]Asahi Astro LIVE: 24/7 YouTube Livestreams from the World’s Greatest Observatories

Asahi Astro LIVE is a 24/7 YouTube livestreaming project that broadcasts night skies from some of the world’s leading observatory sites, including Hawaii, Chile, and Japan. In collaboration with Subaru Telescope, CFHT, ALMA Observatory, and the University of Tokyo Kiso Observatory, the channel combines real-time astronomy, astrophotography, and digital storytelling to bring the universe closer to global audiences.
The livestream has captured meteor showers, giant fireballs, sprites, mysterious spirals, and other unexpected celestial phenomena, while also contributing to scientific research through publications on newly observed meteor clusters. By connecting professional observatories with viewers around the world in real time through YouTube Live, Asahi Astro LIVE explores new possibilities for astronomy outreach in the digital era.
