Title: Technical Contributions in Bearingless Motor Developments
Abstract: The technical contributions for bearingless motor developments are reviewed. The presenter has started bearingless motor research and development since 1980’s. The motivation and basic idea, early stage developments, including unified general theory, mathematical representation, are reviewed. In addition, the presentation includes several original unique motor structures, buried permanent magnet rotor, pole-specific induction motor rotor, homopolar and consequent-pole motor, switched reluctance, axial flux machines, inductive and eddy current sensors, and examples. Middle point current injection, single drive bearingless motors, diamagnetic material bearingless motors are also included. Developments of a 60kW bearingless motor are also included.
