One sign of the formation of strong quantum confinement is the appearance of the excitonic peak which directly correlates with quantum dot (QD) size and optical properties. AgBiS2 QDs show potential for solar cell devices. However, synthetically, this material has not reached uniformity in terms of crystal size, shape, and assembly structure. Here, we demonstrate the synthesis of AgBiS2 QDs with uniform crystal size, shape, and arrangement. Importantly, we found evidence of the quantum confinement effect through the demonstration of a clear excitonic peak formation. This discovery is an important milestone for colloidal AgBiS2 QDs before we can optimize their charge carrier transport, in a more precise and controllable manner. This systematic study is critical for further developing these QDs for high-performing solar cells and for many other optoelectronic device applications.
