electron spin wave

Electron spin wave (ESW), a spatially structured electron spin polarization resulting from the persistent spin helix, can be exploited as a new information carrier due to its wave-like properties. In this study, multiple ESWs were simultaneously excited, and their interference were measured using optical methods. Spatially resolved Kerr rotation microscopy was used to probe the spatial distribution of electron spins in a (001) GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well at 10 K. Excitation positions of the ESWs by two pump lasers were separated by an integer multiple of the wavelength of the ESW. When in-phase ESWs were excited, the spin polarization was enhanced at the midpoint between the excitation positions. On the other hand, when anti-phase ESWs were excited, the spin polarization was weakened at the midpoint between the excitation positions. These experimental results confirm that the interference of ESW as a wave like property is observed.
