Metasurfaces have been widely used as device manipulating electromagnetic wave, e.g. filters, absorbers, polarizers and beam steering devices, and are applied in various fields of THz material and spectroscopic technologies. Among the filter types, the free-standing metallic thin or thick film is quite promising as a bandpass filter, but fragile and vulnerable to heat. Meanwhile, the planar meta-surface on solid substrate can operate under strong excitation, but their transmittance is limited due to the Fresnel reflectance at the substrate-air interface. Filters based on Fabry-Perot effect have narrow pass-band but require micron-size control of the cavity thickness. In this research, we aimed to address those problems by utilizing non-planar metasurface structure on silicon (Si) substrate through a conceptual design and simulation in frequency domain. The proposed filter is expected to be a promising candidate with both robustness and high performance.
