Exceptional points (EPs), where eigenstates coalesce in non-Hermitian systems, have attracted considerable attention for engineering chiral photonic states. EPs formed by quadrupole modes can uniquely support rotating states carrying higher-order orbital angular momentum (OAM), which remains unexplored. Here, we demonstrate the EPs arising from two quadrupole modes in an H1 PhC nanocavity through 2D finite-element simulations. Near the two EPs, the chiral behavior emerges, and the handedness switches between them.
