We propose a Surface Plasmon Resonance-based optical fiber sensor using a D-shaped Solid-Core Photonic crystal fiber with Gold gratings. Zeonex, a biocompatible cyclo-olefin polymer, is chosen as the fiber material. A three-layered PCF structure is considered, and an optimized gold grating structure is added to the polished surface of the D-shaped fiber to excite the Surface Plasmon Polariton mode. We used the mode confinement loss as one of the main parameters to analyze our sensor working using COMSOL Multiphysics. In our simulations, we observed a refractive index sensitivity of 10.95 nm RIU-1 from the proposed sensor.
