In antiferromagnetic spintronics, one of the most established methods for electrically probing magnetic structures is spin Hall magnetoresistance (SMR). While SMR has been successfully used to detect spin-flop transitions, the electrical detection of spin-flip transitions remains largely unexplored. In this work, Pt and Cu thin films were deposited on Na5Co15.5Te6O36 (NCTO), an Ising-type antiferromagnet that undergoes a spin-flip transition driven by strong Ising anisotropy, by DC sputtering. Longitudinal magnetoresistance (LMR) measurements were then performed under a magnetic field applied along the crystallographic c-axis (the Ising easy axis) of NCTO. A clear jump was observed in the LMR at the spin-flip transition field. Comparison of the LMR responses in Pt/NCTO and Cu/NCTO indicates that the observed jump originates from magnetostriction associated with the spin-flip transition. Details will be discussed in the presentation.
