Colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) are promising due to tunable energy band gaps through size, enabling efficient light harvesting. AgBiS2 is a promising environmentally friendly candidate with broad visible and near-infrared absorption. Predicted PCE of ultra-thin AgBiS2 solar cells exceeds 25%. Achieving high performance remains challenging because charge transport depends on nanocrystal shape, assembly, and interparticle connections. Controlling AgBiS2 NC morphology is difficult due to complex nucleation. Here, we show the morphological evolution of AgBiS2 NCs via halide-mediated synthesis and its impact on photodetector performance. We combine halide-mediated growth with our one-pot synthesis to control reaction conditions. By adding halide precursors, we study their effects on structure, optical properties, and nanocrystal formation. This research offers insights into the fabrication of uniform nanocrystal assemblies with reduced disorder and improved electronic coupling, advancing environmentally friendly, high-performance optoelectronic devices, especially for solar cells.
