Screen-printed carbon interconnects in multi-layer disposable chip sensors are vulnerable to lipophilic binder migration from oil-bound upper recognition layers. We isolated this mechanism by exposing screen-printed carbon traces (JELCON CH-N on PET) to silicone oil (Shin-Etsu KF-96-300CS) to simulate the binder migration observed in carbon paste sensors. Over 60 days, oil-exposed samples (n=10) showed monotonic resistive drift from 1.182 to 1.590 kOhm (+34.7%; range 28.3-38.7%), while dry controls (n=10) remained stable. Under cyclic bending (1 cm radius, n=10/group), dry controls stabilised near 1.6 kOhm through 200 cycles; all oil-exposed samples reached open-circuit failure before 100 cycles. These results identify interconnect degradation by lipophilic binder infiltration as a previously unrecognised failure mode in printed flexible sensors, and motivate barrier coatings or binder-free interconnect materials.
