[I-OR10-01]Keynote Lecture : How to Assess Single Ventricle Function - Case based approach
○Lucy Youngmin Eun1 (Yonsei University Severance Hospital, Seoul, Korea)
The analysis of single ventricle function demonstrates that ventricular systolic and diastolic dysfunction are common, multifactorial, and challenging to assess accurately.Systolic function is often relatively preserved in the early years after Fontan palliation but declines over time, contributing to chronic low cardiac output, exercise intolerance, and heart failure symptoms.Diastolic dysfunction is prevalent and may be unmasked by volume challenge, with the single ventricle being highly sensitive to changes in preload and afterload.Advanced imaging modalities such as cardiac MRI and speckle tracking echocardiography, including strain measurement, provide more reliable and reproducible measures of ventricular performance and are recommended for serial evaluation.
