As the development of urbanization, a large number of municipal solid waste were produced. After decades of anaerobic degradation in landfill, most of them tend to be stable. These aged refuse present excellent performance in nitrogen removal due to the unique physical, chemical and biological characteristics. The numbers of observed species are 1918. After 6 months, treatment, the amount of functional microbial turns from .89% to 12.3%. The removal rate was incrementally increased up to 9%, almost three times more than adsorption effect only. Thus it can be seen biological effects dominate in the system. Taking advantage of aged refuse to treat waste water manifests the principle of resource recovery. It can be firmly believed that aged refuse possesses its broad prospects in ammonium-rich wastewater treatment.
