Batch tests were conducted to explore the effects of chromium and iron with different chemical valence on the performance of Anammox biomass. The 5% inhibition concentrations (IC5) of Fe(III), Fe(II) and Cr(III) was not calculated as the inhibition percentages (IPs) were in the range of -1% to 15%, while the data of Cr(VI) inhibition was well fitted by a typical noncompetitive model with IC5 of 9.84 mg/L. The evaluation of liquid metal concentration revealed that most Fe(III), Fe(II) and Cr(III) were in the form of precipitate, as expected. On the contrary, Cr(VI) was almost in the form of ion and Anammox biomass held a high metal accumulation ability.
