The fundamental study was conducted for the separation of vanadium and tungsten from leach liquor obtained from the soda roasting and water leaching. The precipitation behaviors of vanadium and tungsten using the artificial solution (V: 1 g/L, W: 10g/L) was investigated with NaOH concentration, the amount of CaCl2 (aq.) added and temperature. Also, in order to optimize the selective precipitation, the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) using Minitab, statics software, was employed. This results revealed that the precipitation rate was found to be 99.5% V and <1% W with 0.5 mol/L NaOH solution, Ca/(V+W) = 1.0 at 293 K.
