Tsunamis caused by submarine landslides are devastating geological disasters that pose significant research challenges. The complex interaction between fluid and solid during the generation process of the tsunami caused by submarine landslides is hard to express. In this study, we proposed the Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) and the Discrete Element Method (DEM) coupled methods to analyze the coupling behavior between fluid and solid. We add a Perfectly Matched Layer (PML) for creating an appropriate offshore model. In the numerical simulation, different internal friction angles of solid particles significantly affect the sliding velocity of the submarine landslide. After considering the cohesion of solid particles, the change in the deformation of the landslides is obvious. In addition, the fluid flow caused by the impact of the landslide can be well observed. We can obtain the variation in wave amplitude with time by catching fluid particles on the free surface. The numerical simulation results indicate that the maximum amplitude of the tsunami is strongly affected by the solid physical and mechanical properties.
