Rapid increase of myopia is concerned globally. In this symposium, speakers from Asian and European countries talk about the myopia management strategies in each country and discuss how to prevent myopia progression. Outdoor light exposure is considered a safe and effective strategy for reducing myopia development. A strategy by exposure to short-wavelength light (violet) will be presented by Dr. Torii (Japan). In Taiwan, Dr. Wu conducted public health initiatives aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles among children in Taiwan and will present the effectiveness of APP (Awareness, Promotion, Policy) public health intervention in reducing the prevalence of myopia. Recently, specially-designed spectacle lenses are reportedly preventing myopia progression. Ms. Olga (Essilor, France)will talk about the mechanism and the clinical results of Highly Aspherical Lenslet spectacles (HAL) to prevent myopia progression. Now combined approaches are reportedly effective to prevent myopia progression. Dr. Lian (Singapore) will talk about multifaceted approach including national initiatives promoting outdoor time, early detection through school-based screenings, and parental education together with personalized interventions of myopia control. Combined intervensions with DIMS spectacles and low-dose atropine have reportedly a synergetic effect. Dr. Vlasak (HOYA) is going to present the effect of DIMS to prevent myopia progression and also the effect of combined approach. Please join this interesting symposium.
