[SY6-3] AI-Based Education for Medication Counseling in Pharmacy Practice Training

Medication counseling is an essential competency in pharmacy practice education that requires both pharmaceutical knowledge and communication skills. Conventional teaching methods, such as role-play and standardized patient activities, are often limited by time, instructor availability, and opportunities for repetitive practice and feedback. This session introduces the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as a supportive educational tool in pharmacy practice training. AI-assisted learning tools were applied to simulated patient counseling scenarios, using smoking cessation counseling as a case scenario in community pharmacy practice, to support repetitive practice and immediate feedback. The session will compare AI-assisted learning with conventional training methods, such as role-play and standardized patient activities. It will also address the advantages and limitations of AI in developing communication skills and practical competencies in pharmacy education. AI should be considered a supportive educational tool rather than a replacement for human interaction in pharmacy practice training.
「AIを活用した薬学実務教育における服薬指導トレーニング」
服薬指導は、薬学知識とコミュニケーション能力を必要とする薬学実務教育の重要な能力である。本講演では、地域薬局での禁煙支援を題材に、AI支援型学習ツールを活用した模擬服薬指導教育を紹介する。従来のロールプレイ教育と比較しながら、反復練習や即時フィードバックを可能にするAI活用の利点と限界を示し、AIを薬学教育における支援的ツールとして活用する重要性を論じる。
