One-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) receivers are a promising energy-efficient solution for large-scale antenna systems. However, their coarse quantization introduces fundamental performance limitations. In line-of-sight (LOS) environments, reception performance strongly depends on the signal arrival direction, causing degradation in mutual information even at high signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs).
This study analyzes this directional dependency by modeling the arrival direction as a deterministic parameter. We evaluate performance based on mutual information. The results show that phase differences among antenna elements reduce the distinguishability of quantized signals.
To address this issue, random phase rotation is applied to each antenna element. Simulation results demonstrate that this method improves mutual information by diversifying received signals and reducing directional dependency.
