Rdiostrontium in fresh water was decontaminated by passing through a crystalline CaCO3-packed column after mixing the water and a NaCO3 aqueous solution with a static mixer. The decontamination took place by co-crystallization with CaCO3 in the supersaturated solution of CaCO3. The decontamination factor increased with increasing the degree of super saturation, which was maximized by the perfect mixing of the solutions. To use a static mixer therefore increased the decontamination factor as well as the stability of the factor.
