Photonuclear reactions induced by high energy photon sources have shown some potentials to be utilized as an active non-destructive assay method for nuclear materials detection and evaluation for nuclear security and safeguards. This research aims to perform a numerical study to investigate on the practical measurement of photonuclear reactions induced in various samples by accelerator-based high-energy gamma-ray from 7Li(p,g)8Be reaction including the influences from the experiment’s geometrical setup affecting the performance of the measurement. By MCNP Monte Carlo calculation code and ENDF/B-VII.0 nuclear data library, the detectability analyses on emitted photoneutrons for photonuclear reactions measurement have been performed and the applicable experimental setup for photonuclear reaction demonstration by Tokyo Tech Pelletron has been validated.
