The optical waveguide film (OWF) is a resin film with multiple optical waveguides embedded in a soft sheet about 0.1 mm thick, and multiple micro-optical sensors are processed in the surface. Each sensor can detect the gas and liquid phases and measure the thickness of the liquid phase, and can be attached to curved surfaces such as circular pipe. This paper reports on the measurement of impinging droplet and liquid film thickness using the OWF.
