In the future, it is expected that new types of wastes will be generated as wastes for trench disposal that have never been disposed of before. These new wastes include bio-shielding concrete blocks and waste materials in containers filled with sand, etc. When evaluate the radioactivity of the wastes by gamma measurements from outside, the properties such as contamination distribution and waste distribution will affect the evaluated radioactivity values. In this study, assuming the batch measurement of the radioactivity of a large number of bio-shielding concrete blocks placed in a trench disposal facility, the applicability of the “maximum contamination method“ was examined by computer simulation.
