[3L03] Application of laser decontamination technology to large structures such as suppression chambers inside nuclear reactor containment vessels

The suppression chamber, which suppresses pressure fluctuations, is one of the largest alloy steel structures inside the containment vessel. It is a doughnut-shaped structure with a thickness of about 20 mm, a tube diameter of 9 m, and an outer diameter of 44 m. We planned and carried out technology development to decontaminate the inside and outside of this structure to the clearance level using a single-mode fiber laser.
