In situ synchrotron XAFS/XRD observations of ZrO2 using a gas-floating laser furnace showed that the first peak from XAFS is attributed to the Zr-O interaction, and that the peak broadens and shortens in distance with increasing temperature heating. On the other hand, the second peak attributed to Zr-Zr showed the opposite trend.
