[3O01]Irradiation behavior of alumina scales formed on FeCrAl ODS alloys and the effect of pre-oxidation temperatures

Alumina-forming FeCrAl ferritic oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) alloys are considered to be one of the promising materials for next generation nuclear systems. The design of FeCrAl ODS alloys is based on the formation of a stable alumina scale, which is expected to protect the alloys from extreme corrosion and irradiation in nuclear systems. Improving the radiation resistance of the alumina scale is essential for nuclear applications of the FeCrAl ODS alloys. Since the microstructure of alumina scales is closely related to temperatures, present work aims to investigate the irradiation behavior of the alumina scales formed at various pre-oxidation temperatures. Influence of microstructure control through adjusting temperatures on improving the irradiation resistance of the alumina scales will be discussed.
