In Tokyo Electric Power Company’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (hereinafter referred to as 1F), there is concern that alpha nuclides may migrate from the fuel debris into the stagnant water during fuel debris retrieval. Alpha nuclides in liquid can exist as ions or colloids, which are thought to be complex and difficult to remove. Therefore, we are developing a rational treatment method to remove both forms of alpha nuclides. In order to confirm whether the co-precipitation method can remove both alpha nuclides, we conducted alpha nuclide removal tests using simulated stagnant water solution. We confirmed that the colloidal and ionic components could meet the target decontamination factor by applying Fe co-precipitation treatment.
