Understanding the irradiation-induced embrittlement behavior of materials is critical when evaluating the lifespan and safety of reactor pressure vessel (RPV) steels. Recent studies have shown that Mn–Ni–Si clusters form under irradiation and are a primary cause of embrittlement. In particular, these clusters significantly affect the crystal structure of the material, leading to increased brittleness. Therefore, in nuclear materials research, understanding the nucleation and growth processes of Mn–Ni–Si precipitates is a crucial issue. Since cluster growth is influenced by formation energy, which depends on the cluster’s microscopic structure, clarifying the relationship between structure and energy is essential for understanding embrittlement behavior. In this study, we aim to elucidate the structure and growth process of clusters formed in Fe–Mn–Ni–(Cu) alloys using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.
