In fuel debris retrieval processes during decommissioning, large amounts of radioactive fine particles and colloids are generated as secondary sludge, requiring rapid solid-liquid separation and drying. To address this challenge, we have been developing a process in which magnetic fine particles are added to aggregate and concentrate radioactive particulates, and the resulting magnetic flocs are compressed under a magnetic field to achieve efficient low-temperature dewatering and drying. In this study, inorganic coagulants and other additives were applied to magnetic fine particles serving as the matrix, and their effects on aggregation behavior and drying characteristics were evaluated. The results provide insights into improving magnetic-field-assisted dewatering and drying processes for sludge containing radioactive particulates.
